Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about directory readiness and audit scoring.
What does the Directory Readiness Score measure?
The Directory Readiness Score (0-100%) evaluates key technical and content signals required by directory editors: valid SSL (HTTPS), clean hostname canonicalization, category taxonomy alignment, logo asset dimensions, and elevator pitch brevity. A score of 80% or above ensures approval rates exceeding 95%.
How does Backlynk match directories to my website niche?
Backlynk indexes 200+ directories across 195 granular taxonomies. When you select your category and business model, the readiness checker evaluates directory submission requirements, minimum domain ratings, and relevance thresholds to generate an exact shortlist.
Why do directories reject manual website submissions?
The top three reasons for directory rejection are: broken or insecure HTTP URLs, vague descriptions filled with marketing buzzwords rather than clear product functionality, and mismatched category tags (e.g. submitting an AI tool to a local service directory).
Is this directory readiness audit completely free?
Yes. The readiness checker is 100% free with no account creation required. You can audit as many domains as you need. To automate submissions to all matched directories, you can create a free Backlynk account.
